Morphée, The Key To A Good Night’s Sleep

Morphée is an entirely non-digital, screen-free, portable solution to sleepless nights. The device combines the best of meditation and sophrology to significantly improve the quality of sleep of its users. Designed in collaboration with sleep professionals, and having already helped over 100,000 people in France manage their anxiety, stress and insomnia, the audio sleeping aid launched in the UK in November 2020 to great success, with the product selling out ahead of Christmas.

The NHS reports that:

  • About a third of the British population has episodes of insomnia - which can lead to stress, anxiety and depression.

  • Insomnia is greatly enhanced and aggravated by digital hyperconnection.

  • Digital screens of any kind should be avoided before going to bed, as the blue light emitted can delay the release of sleep-inducing melatonin, which is needed to support the body's circadian rhythm, or internal clock.

Morphée was designed to help people:

  • Fall asleep more easily and quickly

  • Create a deep and restorative sleep

  • Wake up refreshed and re-energised, ready to take on the day

Morphée offers over 200 session combinations inspired by guided meditation and sophrology, which can be listened to before going to bed or when struggling to sleep during the night, via the built-in speakers or headphones.

Sophrology

Sophrology is a form of therapy used to relax the mind and rid it of past worries and future anxieties, by returning it to the present moment - what is happening here and now. With a combination of relaxation techniques and breathing exercises, Sophrology can help limit the flow of anxious thoughts by having the mind focus on breathing, the body or an image, in order to let go and experience deep relaxation before going to sleep. In more concrete terms, sophrology can help by:

  • Swapping stressful thoughts for corporeal sensations, by shifting the focus from the brain, to the body.

  • Managing and helping reduce expectations when it comes to sleep, by releasing control. The more we try to pin sleep down, the more it evades us, and high expectations often have the opposite of the desired effect.

  • Releasing tension and simultaneously unwinding both mind and body.

How it works

Morphée comprises eight different relaxation and sleeping exercises, for a total of over 200 combinations of sessions, including body scanning, breathing, movement, visualization, and heart coherence.

The aim of each is to disconnect from the day, relax the body and soothe the mind; these three elements form the pillars of a fast, deep and restorative sleep. And all sessions are led by a team of sleep experts, supervised by Florence Binay, a sleep-focused sophrologist.

A sensory object in every way, Morphée is ergonomically designed to be pleasant and comforting to touch and see, while its warm beech wood shell and elegant shape makes it a beautiful object for the home.

The beech wood cover also protects the device, and coupled with a battery life of about one week’s worth of daily listening, this means Morphée is easy to use while on the go.

About Morphée

Morphée was created in France two years ago by Guillaume Barathon and Charlie Rousset (founders of the Audiozen company): two entrepreneurs who were looking for a natural solution to insomnia - a problem becoming more common due to increased screen time. Surrounding themselves with a team of sleep professionals, from sophrologists to doctors and specialist sleep centres, Guillaume and Charlie underwent two years of extensive research and development. In September 2018, Morphée launched in France, and expanded into the UK in November 2020 with its first device in English.

Available for £79.95 on www.morphee.co, with a 100 nights return policy.
